Dear Elsie -

Today was pay-day. My check came to $18.55. I payed the grocery bill of $11.12 which Vern had charged against me, and I payed Johnson's $3.00 which includes my last week's & this coming week's room-rent. So now I have $4.43 left out of my check. Tomorrow morning I will pay the restaurant $2.75 for meals which I charged this week. So then I'll only have $1.68 left. But next Sat. it will be different. I'm going to send you not less than $10.00 per week beginning with next Sat. And you will get most of which Vernon pays me besides. But I have got to keep $2.00 out of that, to pay my Oct. union dues.
I received a nice letter from Mother this morning and also a number of very good pictures. She also gave me Jack's address. I shall write him tonight.
We had another swell day today. Clear and warm. But at 6 o'clock it clouded up and we had our second electrical storm for this summer. Out here, when it rains, it just rains without thunder or lightning, like it did tonite.
Beginning next week our store closes at 8 P.M. instead of 8:20 as in the past. Next week I go to work at 10 A.M. and get off from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. for dinner, and then I work straight thru to 8 P.M., which gives me 9 hours work per day. I'll eat supper after 8.
But it's almost 10:30 now and I'm going to write Jack a letter and then go to bed. So Good-night my Darling 'till tomorrow. (Sun.)
