Duane and Grandpa Fred

When Duane was a very young boy, Grandpa Fred liked to call Grandma Helga "an old clunk".

Duane, full of spunk, finally protested to Grandpa. He yelled, "Don't call Grandma an old clunk!"

A little later that day, Grandpa, Mom, Duane (and who knows who else) were parked on a downtown Bemidji street waiting for something or another.  An elderly woman came walking down the sidewalk past them. Grandpa decided to test Duane.  He said, "There goes another old clunk."

Duane took just a very few seconds.  Then he yelled at Grandpa, "You just called Grandma an old clunk!"
