Dear Elsie -
I just got up and it's 4:15 P.M. I went to bed as soon as I finished breakfast this morning, so I didn't get your card till just now. Gee, Darling, it sure is swell to hear that you are sitting up to the extent that your are. I'll call your mother as soon as I've finished this letter. She worries so much about you, so keep up the good fight, Darling, and it will really cheer your mother up.
Mr. Gadde asked me last nite if I had heard from you this week, so I'll tell him tonite that I've heard from you. I can't do a thing in the garden today so I may as well stick around in the house 'till time for work. I'm going to ask Gadde about the hospitalization again tonite. Geo Lilleger, the book-keeper, tells me that my auto insurance is costing me $18 and some cents. I'm going to tell Gadde tonite that if the company isn't going to pay half they can just keep it. If they pay half for the salesman, they can do likewise for me or else I don't want it. Well really Darling I don't know of another thing to write. Oh yes, you asked if we visited Julius Zachgo Sun. We found out that they lived just 1 mile east of St. Vincent's Hospital so we went out there for just a few minutes. I had a lot of fun with Mrs Zachgo: Dad & Mother stayed in the car while I went to the house and I told her that we wanted to buy a farm. I asked her if they were interested in selling us their farm. Not recognizing me, she explained that they were only renting the place. And when I asked if the owner would sell, she said she didn't know. Then I explained that I was only the buyer's assistant and that I wished for her to come out to the car and see my boss. She did just that and told me on the way to the car about how poor the drainage was and of all the alkali beneath the surface of the soil. But when she got to the car she recognized the folks and immediately turned and looked at me and says, "Why you're Irvin; you don't want to buy a farm, you're just pulling a fast joke on me." Did I ever get a good laugh out of that. We only stayed about 20 minutes. She asked why I didn't tell her before about you being in the hospital out there. But gosh I forgot that they lived at Crookston. Jerry is trying to sell Rolland his Graham car. I guess it's using a lot of oil.
Well I'm going to the store and get a couple cans of tomatoes & also call your mother. I'll be writing you again tomorrow tho Darling.

                    Love From
                           Irvin xxx
