Dear Elsie,
Well Darling, I saw Duane again tonight. He came with the folks when they brought the girls & Donald & Kay back in from the farm. He doesn't seem to want much to do with me. Maxine is going to stay and help Naomi with the washing tomorrow. We stopped & had supper with Harley & May on the way home tonite. They have their new rug down now and also their complete new set of living room & dining room furniture which I predicted they would get. Boy, but talk about some class. You should especially see May's new dining set.
Being as I forgot to take the snapshots with me this P.M., I am now enclosing them. Rolland does not want to pay me till he gets to the coast, as he does not care to strike out with too small an amount of money. I hope we don't have to wait forever and a day for that 8.50. I think I better see if I can get me a bike so I can cut down our car expenses don't you? That is, - if a bike don't cost too much. - I'll finish this tomorrow Darling. Good night -
   May 17th P.M.
Well Darling I hope you slept good last nite. Donald had such a loud snore that I couldn't go to sleep for a long time.
I have decided to take out another $15.00 loan from the insurance co. so that we can arrange our payments in order that we may start paying Dad on our doctor bills. I also am trying to locate a bike. I believe that we can save 10.00 monthly in car expenses if I had one.
I am taking the curtains out to Mom's this afternoon. In fact right now. It's 2:00 P.M.
Well, well, in looking over this letter, I see I mentioned bike to you last nite & this P.M. both. Well, as a result I did get one from Al Lortie while on my way out to your folks this afternoon. It cost me 19.00, but I only gave him 15.00 now. Am to pay balance on 15th of next month. It's in very good condition. McClernan had one for 16.50, but there was a broken brace on it plus a flat tire. Your dad was sawing wood all alone when I got out there so I helped him. He was just sawing enough for a couple of days. Clarence hasn't been feeling very good the last couple days, so he's been sticking pretty close to inside the house. I washed all the walls in the kitchen for the girls this afternoon after I got back from Mom's. Well I must eat my supper now so I can get down to work. Will be writing you again tomorrow Darling. Please let me know when you can come home as soon as you find out, won't you Darling.
