                            [ed. note May 20]

My Dear Darling,
I'm going to write this while I am eating my lunch. It's 1:20 A.M., and I've been unloading trucks (2 of them) since 11:30 last nite. Got to get the rest of the orders up in time to load the truck for the north at 4 o'clock. Herman is coming down at 4 to help me. But Say Darling, how are you getting along anyway? Thought sure I'd hear from you yesterday (Remember, this is 1:30 A.M. Thurs.) but Naomi says, 'no mail today except from Ins. Co.'. Oh yes, I got an application in the mail today for me to sign for $15.00. I might get the check this week yet, but I doubt it. I got up at 2:30 yesterday and cultivated the garden and planted the peas. By the way somebody must have stole our hand garden cultivator last winter. I had to have one so I got one with the big wheel from Given's for 3.39. They're 3.69 in Sear's catalogue. That leaf rake never did show up either. Well I've finished my lunch now. Now for a cigarette. Well Darling the Theif River boys always ask how you are. Also the Tyson truck driver that brings our Miracle Whip Dressing asked me tonite how you are and when you'd be home. By golly, Darling, I wish you were with me now. I'm thinking about you most all of the time and wishing that you were here where I could love you up.
But I must get to work Darling. I hope you are gathering strength enough to walk now so you can come home by Sunday. Lots of Love from me to You Darling.   Irvin
