My Dear Elsie,
  I have to take a month's
  vacation from the USO
  as I have been assigned
  as mess cook in the mess
  hall which means I'll be
  getting up at 4:30 A.M.
  every morning.  This will be
  for one month.  I did not
  know this until after
  colors this morning.
  It's a deal, the house
  I mean.  I hope you get
  it before he sells it to some
  one else.  Tomorrow I'll write
  a letter for a change.
