Universities, Affirmative Action, and the EPA Not engineering --------------- A bunch of girls fresh out of high school are herded through universities where there are absolutely no standards, shepherded through introductory courses on several subjects, handed a piece of paper stating that they are engineers, then -- by virtue of Affirmative Action and hiring & promotion quotas -- are hired and promoted by the EPA, by firms that do environmental contract work for the government, or by state or city governments. They are labeled environmental or geological "engineers" and "managers" so as to comply with Affirmative Action. Taxpayers foot the bill for their schooling, for their utterly unearned salaries, and for the havoc and ruination they generate. With zero capacity for logic, let alone analyzing anything, they concoct absurd documents -- creating rules that make zero sense and which dramatically increase pollution on balance. They are not remotely like engineers -- not in the vaguest sense. Collecting samples, obtaining records and checking boxes is secretarial work -- not engineering. They have not engineered, and cannot engineer, anything whatsoever. They have no experience in the real world. Nor can cleaning up after a spillage be called engineering. It is not 1/10000 of what engineering is. ------------------------------------------------------- I have many stories about the enormous amount of pollution generated by the EPA-idiots; this as a result of direct experience (meaning classroom time) -- all horrifying -- with which I could populate a chapter. Here are just a smattering: stories Also see: my nephew's summer job |
