                                 [ed. note May 21]

My Dear Darling,
Being as I did not hear from you again today, I was really beginning to worry as to whether you were getting any better or worse from your efforts of learning to walk. So I just simply decided to call by long distance and find out. I asked if she knew when you would be able to come home, but she did not know just how soon, although she said she heard you were going home soon. She offered to call one of the nurses from upstairs and find out just when you were coming but I told her you could drop me a card & let me know. After all, the main thing I wanted to know is whether or not you were getting better and if you were walking. I still don't know if you're walking by yourself or by the aid of someone else.
I'm not near as busy tonite as I've been for the past week & a half. I have only 8 orders to put up, but I've got to load an 8 ton load for Park Rapids before I go home. So it will probably be 7 o'clock or after before I get thru at that. Next week I've go to go out on Jerry Eagle's territory. Mr. Gadde just told me tonite. Jerry will be gone all week he said. Friday afternoon, next week, is inventory. It was supposed to be on Saturday but being as it is a holiday, we're taking it Fri. P.M.
I've planted part of the beans now. I believe you & I, Darling, decided we would grow more green beans than wax. So I just put in 2 rows of wax. There'll be about 6 or 7 rows of green. I've only put in 1 row of parsnips but am putting in 1 more tomorrow. I plan to finish the beans and put in the cucumbers tomorrow. I think it's too early for the tomato & cabbage plants yet. I've got to pull some stray spears of quack out of the carrot rows too. Did I tell you, sweet heart, that the lettuce and radishes were up? They came up last week. And by the way, Sweetie Pie, we are going to have lots of plums and currants this year; they're still in full bloom. It sure smells nice around there. Naomi mowed all of the lawns for me yesterday. Naomi said Darste was up there at 5:30 this A.M. looking for Rolland. She told him he'd probably find him at room 17, Nancen apts, 'cause he didn't come home last nite. That's where he was all right, but he'd just gone to work before Darste got to the apts.
Nat Given was up and adjusted the gas burners this A.M. so that now the burners all light the way they are supposed to from the pilot lite. Well Darling I'm coming to the end of my paper so I better close as this is all I have left at the whole sale house. So Good nite My Darling and please write me and let me know how you are making out and tell me that you love me. I miss you so much. Oceans & oceans of Love from Irvin
