Dear Darling,
I hope that you are feeling better by the time this reaches you in the morning.
I stopped at Harley's but no one was home. I'll drop them a card tomorrow. Stopped at Bagley for a cup of coffee and a ham sandwich. It was 10:10 when I got to town. I called my folks first thing - no answer, so I called your mother. "Just went to bed", she told me. She said that your dad & Clarence & Harriet & family were in town - your dad campaigning and the rest at the fair. So I went up to Chris's and found all of them there. We're just leaving to go home. I told Harriet that Mother offered to take Kay. But she said Kay could just as well stay with them except that it would be hard for them when they have the thresher's crew and they don't know when that will be. But down in my heart I think Harriet prefers to keep Kay and let my mother take Donnie. Because the way she said, "Kay is awfully good, why she's no trouble at all", and then she says, "Do you know what Dodo said, she asked me why can't we adopt Kay, how or what do you have to do to adopt someone, like if we wanted to adopt Kay." Sounds just like Dolores doesn't it Sweetie Pie? But it didn't sink into my noodle till I was on my way home that she most likely would prefer that Mother take Donald instead. At any rate I certainly am going to offer to let Mother take Donald for - shall we say - Dolores' sake." She sure has fallen in love with our sweet little daughter. Well, my Dear, if I'm going to work at 7:30 in the morning I'd better get this in the mail & get to bed. It's 11:15 now. Monday nite's paper wasn't here but tonite's is here. Nobody I know in the 'Personals'.
