                           Tuesday Aug ?
                           [Mom's question mark]

My Dearest Honey,
Surprise you this time & write a letter. Just got through washing this morning. Feel some better but have such a sore abdomen I can hardly touch or move it. They been giving me hypos every nite until last nite a sleeping pill. I woke up many times & realized I'd been rolling around. I suppose that's why I woke up because it still hurts something awful to move. When I have a hypo I don't seem to move at all & in the morning feel really pretty good. If you can get off just as early Thurs. as Wed. I'd rather have you come Thurs. nite. I'll probably feel a little better, & then it seems such a long stretch from Wed. nite to Sunday. But if you can get here earlier Wed. come then. I'd like to have you come because it seems like I didn't see much to Sunday's visit. Wasn't feeling well enough to appreciate your visit or talk much to you.
I wish Kay could have stayed out home. She's so wild and more apt to get hurt out there & I worry about her now, before I didn't. Seems like it's more things to get into out there.
Bring all the old Pioneers you can find. Hope I can read soon. Haven't done any yet. Got a card & short letter from Mrs. Bly. That's all the mail I've had. I'm almost played out so will close & mail this.

                         Love from
                                Elsie
Had no company yet.
Bring my sugar ration
book.
